A native of Albuquerque, NM, violist Freya Irani is currently studying at the New England Conservatory with Dimitri Murrath and Jessica Bodner. Most recently, Freya was named a 2017 National YoungArts Winner, and is also a prize winner of the Fischoff and M-Prize International Chamber Music Competitions. Freya has participated in masterclasses with Ettore Causa, Robert DeMaine, Yizhak Schotten, Helen Callus, Tom Rosenberg, Steven Wyrczynski, and the Ying Quartet, among others. Additionally, Freya has received instruction from members of the Juilliard, Cleveland, Orpheus, Ariel, Borromeo, Parker, Dover, Cavani, Tokyo, and Vermeer Quartets. Her current string quartet, the Tempest String Quartet, has been named a 2017-2018 NEC Honors Ensemble and will make their Jordan Hall recital debut in May 2018.
