Ajay started playing violin just before he turned 4 years old, and is a student of Zhao Wei of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. At age 12, Ajay was invited to perform as the first violinist, co-concertmaster and one of the soloists at the Honors Performance Orchestra at the Stern Auditorium in Carnegie Hall. Ajay won the Best Musicianship and performance award at the California state CMEA and Forum Festival as the Concertmaster of his middle school orchestra in 2016 and 2017. He has also won many competitions such as the American Protege, US Open International Music Competition, International Grande Music Competition, MTAC VOCE at Palo Alto. In 2017, Ajay was invited to perform a solo recital at the National Center of Performing Arts in India and has been invited to perform at the Sunset Music and Arts Festival in 2018 in San Francisco. He performs as a first violinist at the California Youth Symphony and also performs chamber music at California Preparatory Music Academy. Ajay has also attended several esteemed music festivals such as the California Summer Music Festival, the Aaron Rosand Program at Summit Music Festival and will attend the Meadowmount School of Music in 2018. Over the years, he has also learnt solo and chamber music from such esteemed teachers including Maestro Aaron Rosand, Christina Khimm, Victor Danchenko, John Chilshom, Robin Sharp, Patricia Burnham, Maggie Edmondson, Richard Andaya, James Jallfe, Jonathan Koh. Ajay also serves as the Youth Adviser on the Rachel Barton Pine Foundation's Music by Black Composer's program and enjoys sharing his love for music with other students.
