Cassandra May | 3rd Prize | Violin | 9th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


 Cassandra (Cassie) May began taking violin lessons at the age of three and has been studying with Patricia Burnham for the past 13 years. She has played in the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra (PACO), the Golden State Youth Orchestra (GSYO), and currently plays in the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra (SFSYO). Cassie served as concertmaster of GSYO Senior Symphony for 2 years, and is a four time winner of GSYO’s annual concerto competition. Cassie was selected to play in the festival orchestra as concertmaster for the Bay Area Youth Orchestra Festival (BAYOF). Aside from orchestra, Cassie has twice performed at the Junior Bach Festival and soloed with the Palo Alto Philharmonic. She was also a prize winner for the 2020 KAMSA competition. Cassie has attended many summer programs and festivals, including the Bowdoin Festival where she was showcased, Eastman School of Music Summer Program, and Online Solo Strings Intensive Program. This summer 2022, she will attend the Tanglewood Summer Festival where she was awarded a scholarship. In addition, Cassie has studied with Jenee Jolles, Mark Kaplan, and David Chernyavsky, as well as participated in masterclasses with David Kim and Janet Sung.
