Artistic biography
Rodion Belousov was born in 1996 in St-Petersburg, Russia. He started playing oboe at the age of 8 in the class of Professor Galina Muller, an Honored Artist of Russia. Since 2012 he has been studying with Victor Khussu, principal oboe at the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra under Valery Gergiev. In 2013 Rodion studied under the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s assistant principal Keisuke Wakao. Rodion currently studies at Longy School of Music under Gonzalo Ruiz, one of America’s most acclaimed historical instrument soloists.

Despite his young age, Rodion is a winner of 15 International Contests and Music Festivals. He has made numerous appearances in Russia, Estonia, Germany, France and USA performing in major concert halls. As the Grand Prize Winner of the 2013 Crescendo International Competition, Rodion appeared in Carnegie Hall with a performance of Mozart "Oboe Concerto in C Major". As a soloist and member of the Vasilievsky Ostrov Youth Symphony Orchestra he has toured all over Europe. Rodion is one of the three young musicians in Russia to be awarded with the 2013 Honorary Star, one of the most prestigious Russian awards granted for talented young musicians named after Dmitry Likhachev.

Rodion is a member of the prestigious Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra under Grammy nominated Maestro Benjamin Zander.
