Artistic biography
Katherine Audas, 20, is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in cello performance at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music where she studies with Norman Fischer. She has previously studied with Dr. William Wharton, former Professor of Cello at the University of Idaho, and Dr. Jesus Castro-Balbi, Professor of Cello at Texas Christian University.

After winning their young artist competition, Katherine made her solo debut with the Meridian Symphony at the age of 11. Since then, she has performed with the San Juan Symphony, the Music in the mountains Festival Orchestra, the Symphony of Toys in Dallas, the Boise Philharmonic, the Walla Walla Symphony, and the McCall Summerfest Orchestra. In 2013, she won the Grand Prize of the Junior Division in the International Crescendo Music Awards in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This past year she received honorable mention in the Mika Hasler Young Artist Competition. She has performed in master classes for Christopher Adkins, Thomas Lowenheim, Gautier Capucon, Ko Iwasaki, Ralph Kirshbaum, and Lynn Harrell.
