Roy Xiong | 1st Prize | Piano 2017 | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Roy Xiong is currently a sophomore at Jasper High School in Plano, Texas. He began playing piano at the age of 3 and currently studies with Dr. Catharine Lysinger.

Roy will make his orchestral debut in July of this summer in Moscow with the Kostroma Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Pavel Gershtein, as a result of winning first prize in the 2015 AFAF(American Fine Arts Festival) International Concerto Competition. He has performed twice in Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, in 2014 and 2015.

Roy has also won first place at the 2015 American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition. He is the winner of 2012 and 2015 MTNA (Music Teacher National Association)State Competitions. He has won first prize at 2013 TMTA State Piano Performance Contest. He has also performed in master classes with esteemed artists and teachers such as Abbey Simon, Andrey Ponochevny, Logan Skelton, Carol Leone, Elisabeth Pridonoff, and Nancy Weems among others.

In his devotion to serving his community, Roy actively performs in retirement homes and churches in the DFW area and has taken an interest in chamber music. He has served as a teen juror in Collin County Municipal Court for three years, and was recently chosen as a teen attorney. He is also an avid member of his school's Spanish, Math, and Science Fair clubs.
