Manou Magdalena Chakravorty began her cello studies at the age of four. At the age of eleven she experienced her first masterclass with Yo-Yo Ma. She studies with Richard Hirschl, Head of Strings at Roosevelt University and cellist in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Oleksa Mycyk of Northwestern University. Among many accomplishments, she was a semi-finalist in the Xth International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in 2017 and received a Judges’ Distinction Award and First Place in the American Protégé International Concerto Competition 2017. She has performed solo and solo with orchestra in Austria, India, Italy, Spain and Kazakhstan and in the U.S.A, including twice at Carnegie Hall. She was recently featured on WFMT classical radio in Chicago on the program "Introductions" and is a freshman at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools.
