Sean Lee started his cello studies at age eight and currently studies with Jonathan Koh. He has twice attended the Meadowmount School of Music. Most recently, Sean was named a 2018 Mondavi National Young Artists Competition semi-finalist. He has won numerous awards from competitions such as the American Protégé International Concerto Competition, US International Music Competition, Great Composers Competition, Classical Masters Competition, Silicon Valley Youth Music Competition, DVC/HNU Young Artist String Competition. He debuted as a soloist with El Camino Youth Symphony in 2015 and has played in venues such as Davies Hall, Harris Center, Mondavi Center, and Carnegie Hall. He will be appear in solo performance with Livermore Amador Symphony in February 2018.

Sean is also a passionate orchestral and chamber musician. He is currently a member of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra and served as the principal cellist for the CODA Honor Orchestra for two years in a row. Sean has been attending the California Music Preparatory as the cellist of the Epsilon Trio and the Quintet Tranquillo, winning awards from the US Open Music Competition and MTAC VOCE State Competition. He had the privilege to work with renowned artists and ensembles, including Thomas Mesa, Dawn Harms, Allegra Chapman, Michael Dahlberg, Alexander String Quartet, and Juilliard String Quartet.

Sean has been volunteering for his community as the principal cellist of Livermore Pleasanton Youth Outreach Symphony since 2012, and as a member of the Bay Area Visiting Musicians and Tri-valley Youth Music Ensemble since 2015, performing for veterans, seniors, and hospice patients. Recently, he helped organize and took part in the California Wildfire Relief Concert, where all donations were sent to the American Red Cross. When not making music, Sean enjoys doing archery and playing basketball. As an archer at the HYP JOAD, he has won gold medals many times at California State Archery Championships and holds USA Archery National Record for 50m double round.
