Born in Hong Kong, Therese Ng learned percussion from an early age. As a young and passionate performer on marimba, Therese was awarded 1st Prize in the Australia Marimba Competition (2017), 2nd prize in the Concerto Competition for Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (2016), and was a semi-finalist in Percussive Arts Society Italy Marimba Competition (2016). Other awards include 2nd Prize in the VCASS Outstanding Soloist Competition (2012), 1st Prize in Australian Percussion Eisteddfod 4-mallet Competition (2012), semi-finalist in The Talent Competition for 3MBS (2014), 3rd Prize in the Australian Marimba Competition (2014 and 2015); and semi-finalist in Melbourne Youth Orchestra Virtuosity Concerto Competition (2015) with honourable mention.

In 2016, Therese gave her debut public concert alongside with her string quartet at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. In 2017, Therese had her overseas debut at PAS Hong Kong’s Days of Percussion, followed by a marimba duo recital Marimbadreams at the University of Western Australia. In 2018, Therese hosted her second public concert in Melbourne Song and Dance. Therese regularly performs with Perth percussionist and YouTuber Adam Tan.

Therese holds a Bachelor of Music with Honours from the University of Melbourne. She graduated with first class honours as the top scorer of her year, awarded with the Ronald William Caporn Prizes, the Grace Durling Encouragement Award, the Ivy May Pendelbury Scholarships and the Barbara Bishop Hewitt Scholarship. Therese is currently studying a Master of Music (Performance Teaching) at the University of Melbourne, and teaches at the Australian Percussion Academy.
