Irene Geng is a sophomore at Irvington High School in Fremont. She discovered her interest for piano and music when she was in kindergarten, and has been actively studying piano under Ms. Rozina Tenenbaum. This year, she achieved the Panel Honors Award from MTAC ‘s (Music Teacher’s Association of California) Certificate of Merit. She has been a winner of the Fremont Symphony’s Young Recitalist Competition three times, was chosen to perform at the Junior Bach Festival several times, has placed second and honorable mention at the East Bay Music Festival Piano Competitions, received honorable mention two times at San Francisco Chopin Competitions, and placed 1st place and 2nd place at US OPEN Music Competition events.

Irene loves to share her love for music by performing with the MTAC Music Students’ Service League and the Rising Stars music group, two community service groups that organize outreach recitals to share music with local senior centers in the Bay Area. Recently, she received the Regina Mastrantonio Memorial Fund Community Music Service Recognition Award.

Irene is also a ballet dancer. This year, she received the Distinction Award for Vocational Graded Level 3 Examination from the Royal Academy of Dance. As a pianist for Angela Ballet School, she played piano for the Vocational level 5 official RAD examination.

When Irene isn’t playing piano or dancing, she loves studying neuroscience and taking care of her dog Belle.
