In fall 2017, as two high school seniors of the Locke Quartet’s founding members, violinist Bryan Park and cellist Edward Oh graduated, the other two founding members Roger Xia, violin, and Sophia Valenti, viola, welcomed new members Mai Matsumoto, violin, and Jacob Reed, cello. In September 2018 after Mai Matsumoto’s graduation, violinist Sean Mori joined the group. The Locke Quartet receives weekly coaching from Aenea M. Keyes in the SFCM Pre-College Ensemble Program and has been featured in SFCM Pre-College Division's Recitals, Chamber Music Concerts, SFCM Showcases, and SFCM Holiday Concerts. The Locke Quartet is a uniquely motivated ensemble that annually performs a sixty-minute Spring Quartet Recital at the SFCM. They also performed at the SFCM Pre-College Division masterclasses coached by Andrew Luchansky, the Kronos Quartet’s "Fifty for the Future" new music masterclass coached by John Sherba.
