Bruno da Silva Ghirardi | 2nd Prize | Winds & Percussion | 7th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


 Born in Brazil, started his musical studies with his mother who was a clarinetist. At the age of 13 began his studies at the Conservatory of Tatuí (Brazil), the largest musical conservatory in Latin America. In this institution, in addition to theoretical training in music and instrument classes, played at several chamber and symphonic groups, such as the Symphonic Band of the Conservatory of Tatuí and the Symphonic Orchestra of the Conservatory of Tatuí. After completing the clarinet course, moved to the city of São Paulo (Brazil), where in 2015 started his graduation in music at the University of São Paulo (USP), at the class of Professor Luís Afonso Montanha.

In 2015 founded with colleagues the Clarinet Quintet Viajando pelo Brasil, still active today. In 2016 became the principal clarinetist and spalla at the Youth Symphonic Band of the State of São Paulo, and still this year joined as principal clarinetist the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the State of São Paulo, where he played until 2019.

In 2017 won the “Nascente USP” Prize in the Classical Music category with the performance of Jörg Widmann’s “Fantasie” for solo clarinet. Still in 2017, won first place in the Young Soloists Competition of the São Paulo State Youth Symphony Orchestra, with which he played Carl Nielsen's Clarinet Concerto in Sala São Paulo, the most important concert hall in Brazil.

In June 2018, Bruno performed the Clarinet Concerto by W. A. Mozart at the closing concert of the Festival de Prados-MG. Also this year, he completed his bachelor's degree in clarinet at the University of São Paulo and won the 7th Ernani de Almeida Machado Award, obtaining an allowance for his master's degree abroad.

Since 2019 he has been a master student in solo clarinet at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (Germany) at the class of Professor Ralph Manno. Bruno has a scholarship of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Since 2020 he has been teaching clarinet at the Music School “Ludwig van Beethoven” Bonn.

Bruno also participated in several music festivals throughout his career, including:

2nd, 3rd and 4th International Orchestral Woodwinds Encounter (São Paulo-Brazil: 2010,

2012, 2014); 47th Campos do Jordão International Festival (São Paulo, Brazil: 2016);

Mattheiser Sommer-Akademie (Bad Sobernheim, Germany: 2017); Konturen Festival (Brühl, Germany: 2019).
