Jeffrey Zhao is a freshman in Bellevue WA. He has studied piano with Maria Maltseva for the past 9 years. At the age of 15, Jeffrey is already a determined musician, with an extensive repertoire that includes eight piano concertos. Jeffrey has won top prizes in many Seattle area and international musical events, including the Northwest Chopin Competition, Seattle International Piano Festivals, Vienna International Piano Festival, Pacific International Piano Festival, Seattle Young Artists Festival, Sonafest, and the Pacific Northwest Piano Competition. In recent years, Jeffrey has won over 20 gold medals and first place awards. His most recent achievements include concerto performance with Cascade Symphony Orchestra in October 2022; gold medals at the Sonafest and SIPF Classical Viennese Festival 2023; first place of solo and concerto class at PAFE 2023; first place at the EMTA Scholarship Competition 2021; and being selected as a 2021 state recitalist for the Eastside Chapter. Jeffrey has attended masterclasses with many gifted pianists such as Victoria Bogdashevskaya, Illana Vered, Jacques Despres, Paul Barnes, Alexey Trushechkin, Anastasia Solomatina, and Josh Wright. Jeffrey is also an avid skier and a regular winner at various math competitions.
