Helen Wang | 2nd Prize | Strings | 9th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

 Helen Wang is currently an eighth grader at Pacific Trails Middle School. She has been playing the cello since the age of 5. Her cello teacher is Chia-Ling Chien, associate principal cellist of San Diego Symphony Orchestra. 

Helen has won numerous awards in music competitions, including the 2nd place in the 2023 MTAC San Diego Concerto Competition, 1st place in the 2023 VOCE Southern Region (solo and chamber ensemble), Honorable mention in the 2023 VOCE State Final (solo and chamber ensemble),  2nd place in 2022 San Diego Young Cellist Competition, 1st place in 2022 VOCE Branch Competition for Chamber Ensemble, 2nd place in Intermediate Orchestra Strings of MMYO 2020 Solo Competition. Helen has been a member of the Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra since 2019, and served as Principal cellist in the Intermediate Orchestra in 2022-2023. 

Apart from competing, Helen enjoys connecting with people through music, and performs for elders in the senior house. Besides music, Helen enjoys taking naps with her cat, Noah, watching anime, singing with families, and playing video games with friends.
