Chelsea Xia | 2nd Prize | Violin 2017 | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Chelsea Xia, is 15 years old and freshman at Hunter College High School. She has been playing the violin for six years and studies with Elizabeth Faidley. In last November, she performed Vieuxtemps’s fifth violin concerto with the New York International Chamber Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. In March, she performed Mendelssohn concerto with the Riverside Symphony, in April, she performed Vivaldi’s “Summer” Concerto with Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra, and in May, she performed Vieuxtemps violin concerto with MSM Symphony Orchestra.

Chelsea has also placed first in the American Protégé international competition, the Vivo international music competition, the Alexander and Buono international string competition, and the East Coast international music competition. She was a finalist in the Bergen Philharmonic Young Artists competition. She has appeared in master classes with Ray Chen, Charlie Siem, Sarah Chang, and Jennifer Koh. Chelsea has attended the Meadowmount School of Music camp. In her free time, she also enjoys fencing.
