Erin Yu | 3rd Prize | Piano | 6th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Erin Yu is a freshmen at Valley Christian High School in San Jose, California. She began studying piano at age 5, and is currently studying with Jed Galant. Erin made her orchestral debut with Slovakia National Opera Chamber Orchestra in 2017 summer. Erin has won first place, second place, and has been awarded the Contemporary award twice in East Bay Music Festival. She also won first in the United States international competition (USIMC). She also won the Nafisa Taghioff Award in the Fremont Symphony Concerto competition, 2nd place in the CAPMT (California Association of Professional Music Teachers) Regional Concerto Competition, and 2nd alternate in the MTAC (Music Teacher’s Association of California). In addition, she placed 2nd in the Sylvia M. Ghiglieri Competition, honorable mention in the Palo Alto Philharmonics Concerto Competition, and numerous awards at US Open Music Competition.

Erin loves to share her music with other people through the Music Student’s Service League, a service group that organize outreach recitals to share music with local senior centers in the Bay Area. Erin also has a passion for young children. She has taught and tutored students in piano. One of her students earned merits in both grade 3 and grade 5 ABRSM piano exams. In addition to playing solo, Erin enjoys collaborate music with others. She is the pianist in a trio group at Crowden School of Music at Berkeley. She has also worked with violinists and singers.
