Megan Tandar | 2nd Prize | Piano | 6th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Megan Tandar,13, is piano student of the Gifted Music School in Salt Lake City, Utah in the studio of Dr. Vera Oussetskaia-Watanabe. Her previous teachers include Dr. Koji Attwood and Ms. Joanna Oshida.

Megan has received many accolades, including first place in the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Piano Concerto Competition in 2017, first place in the Steinway Competition in 2018, and first place in the Paderewski Competition in 2017 and 2018. In 2016, 2017 and 2019, Megan was selected to performed in the Utah Symphony Youth Guild recitals and at Symphony Guild LobbyFest in consecutive years from 2016-2019. Recently, she was selected as one of ten participants in the 2019 Gina Bachauer International Piano Festival. At age 10, Megan was chosen to perform as a soloist with the Utah Symphony in their annual Salute to Youth concert.

As a collaborative pianist, Megan has been playing chamber music for the past three years. Currently, she is a member of the Solstice Piano Quartet. She has performed with Roberto Diaz, Laurie Smukler and Clive Greensmith. Megan has participated in solo masterclasses with Cedric Pescia, Frank Weinstock, Micah Yui, Albert Tiu, Peter Miyamoto, Kronad Binienda and chamber music masterclasses with Laurie Smukler, Masao Kawasaki, Tom Rosenberg, Roger Chase, Ian Swansen, and Erin Nolan. Megan regularly performs in recitals, recently as soloist with Gina Bachauer International Music Foundation with their Music in the Schools program in 2018-2019, the German-American Society of Utah, the University of Utah Hospital, and private concerts in homes in the community.

Megan holds a 4.0 GPA in 8th grade at West High School’s Extended Learning Program (ELP) program in Salt Lake City, Utah. In her spare time, Megan enjoys spending time with her friends.
