Zak Mustille | 2nd Prize | Piano | 7th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Zak Mustille is a scholarship student in the Pre-College Division at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studies piano with Machiko Kobialka and takes composing courses with Arkadi Serper. Zak has earned top prizes in local and statewide piano competitions, including recent wins in the 2020 Ross McKee Piano Competition and in both the Showcase Solo and Showcase Concerto events of the 2020 U.S. Open Music Competition. Zak has had the honor of playing in master classes with Ruth Slenczynska, Frank Wiens, Peter Mack, Dennis Alexander, and Craig Richey. As a composer, Zak has written works for solo piano as well as for chamber music ensembles. He recently won the SFCM Pre-College's annual Kris Getz Composition Competition for his solo violin piece and the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players' Victor Salvo Music Composition Scholarship for his string trio. Beyond classical music, Zak enjoys playing Japanese taiko drums as part of Diablo Taiko in Walnut Creek, CA.
