Jammie Lee, age 20, is an undergraduate science student at McGill University from Brandon, Manitoba. Jammie was enrolled in the prestigious Musical Academy for gifted children at the Seoul Arts Center in South Korea, where he studied under Dr. Seo Jung Won. After immigrating to Canada, he studied under Dr. Kyung Kim and Dr. Lawrence Jones of Brandon University.
Throughout his career in piano performance, Jammie won second prize at the International ENKOR Competition (2018 and 2015), the Phyllis Ilavsky Scholarship in the Women's Musical Club Scholarship Competition at the University of Manitoba (2018), third place and a special award for the most outstanding performance at the Canadian National Music Festival at McEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta as the youngest competitor (2016), first place at the Provincial Associated Manitoba Arts Festival (2016 in the national category and 2015 in the senior category), first place and the youngest winner in history of the Western Financial Tudor Bowl at the Brandon Festival of the Arts (2015), second place in the National Finals of the Canadian Music Competition in Montreal, Quebec (2011), and first place and the winner of the P. A. Kennedy Memorial Trophy at the Brandon Festival of the Arts (2011 and 2010).
Jammie made his professional debut with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra in the ""Made in Manitoba"" program in Summer 2016, playing selected movements from Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini by Rachmaninoff. He made his radio broadcast debut by having a public interview on CBC News Manitoba in November 2018, which was broadcast provincially. He has had masterclasses with acclaimed pianists including Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Lydia Artymiw, Jon Kimura Parker, and Janina Fialkowska.
When he is not playing the piano, he creates content on YouTube, composes ensemble music, does long distance running, and plays chess.
