Christina Sung | 2nd Prize | Piano | 10th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Christina Sung, age 13, is a passionate young pianist from Salt Lake City, Utah. She has been studying piano for 4 ½ years and is a student of Professor Jihea Hong-Park at Brigham Young University. Christina made her orchestral debut with the Utah Symphony at Abravanel Hall as the winner of the Salute to Youth Competition in 2022. Most recently, she won the Ebony Prize at the 2023 MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) National Finals in Reno, Nevada in the United States after winning the 2023 Southwest Division and the 2022 MTNA State level. She also won first place at the 2023 BYU Piano Competition, and her repertoire and interview featured on Classical 89 FM radio in May 2023. Christina was selected as one of twenty finalists to compete in the 2023 Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition at Southeastern Piano Festival in June. She is a first prize winner at numerous piano competitions, including the 2023 Utah Music Teachers Association (UMTA) Concerto Competition, the 2022 University of Utah Summer Arts Piano Competition in both the Solo and Concerto divisions, the 2022 Ogden Piano Festival Concerto Competition, and the 2021 OPUS State Music Competition. She has appeared as a soloist with the Utah Symphony, the American West Symphony, the Timpanogos Symphony Orchestra, and the Utah Philharmonic Orchestra after winning the music competitions. Christina is the co-founder of the Hopeful Hands Trio, which was established to spread the joy of music in her community. She received the Gold Medal Prize of the President's Volunteer Service Award in 2021 and 2022 for her exceptional commitment to community service through music. She is fluent in four languages and enjoys figure skating in her free time.
