Third Prize Winner


Andrew Kirjner is a sophomore at the Manhattan School of Music: Pre-College Division, where he is currently the concertmaster of the Pre-College Symphony Orchestra and is in the studio of pedagogue Elizabeth Faidley. Andrew was the gold winner of the Young Maestro Competition in 2012, the second prize winner in the 2012 Alexander and Buono International String Competition, a Finalist in the 2013 Forte International Music Competition and was the 2013 First Prize winner of the New York Concerti Sinfonietta Shining Stars Debut Series~Pre-college Division, where performed Lalo Symphonie Espagnol, Op.21, 1st Movt. with the New York Concerti Sinfonietta. He was also the winner of the Young Bronx Artist Contest, and he will perform the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64, 1st mvmt. in the fall of 2014 Andrew has performed at the Manhattan School of Music's Borden Auditorium and Greenfield Hall, the WMP Concert Hall, Merkin Recital Hall, and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Andrew's former teachers include Li Lin in San Francisco and Allison Apley in England. Andrew has appeared in masterclass with Reuben Blundell, Tao Chang Yu, and Katie Lansdale. When he is not practicing, Andrew enjoys reading and playing basketball.
