Second Prize Winner
Peter Mugemancuro, 13, has studied piano since the age of four with Dr. Kelly Anderson. He was one of 31 pianists selected from around the world to compete in the 2012 Junior Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition. He has won multiple awards including first prize in the 2014 State CAPMT Concerto Competition and the 2012 CAPMT California State Honors Auditions, first prize in the 2012 Glendale Piano Competition, and first place in the 2011 Southwestern Youth Music Festival Young Pianist Division. His orchestral debut was held with the Festival Orchestra under the baton of Dr. Francis Steiner. Peter and a group of other young pianists were featured with Lang Lang on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in October of 2012. He has performed in the Western United States and in Washington DC.
