Grace Tu: 3rd Prize, Piano, Cat.B | 2015


Grace Tu, 15, is from Glenview, Illinois. Since she began studying piano with Sueanne Metz at age 6, she has received first place awards from the Roberta Savler Piano Contest as well as awards from the Music Festival in Honor of Confucius, the Chicago Area Music Teachers Association, North Shore Music Teachers Association Sonata-Sonatina Festivals, and the Illinois Music Association. She also performed at Carnegie Hall in 2010 as a winner of the American Fine Arts Festival. Recently she was the second place winner at the 2014 Cardinal Stritch Young Artist Competition, a third place winner in the 2015 American Protege International Piano and Strings Competition, and a soloist in the 2014-2015 Young Steinway Concert Series. Grace is also an accomplished flutist, winning first place awards from the Society of American Musicians, the Chicago Flute Club Competition and an honorable mention at the 2013 Chicago Symphony Orchestra Youth Auditions for Woodwinds/brass/percussion.
