Garde Piano Trio: 2nd Prize, Cat.B | Chamber Music 2015/2016

Brendan Garde, Violin
Sarah Gait, Cello
David Gibson, Piano

The Garde Piano Trio (violinist Brendan Garde, cellist Sarah Gait and pianist David Gibson) was formed in 2013 at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, where the trio are currently final year undergraduate students. All three members are passionate chamber musicians, and bring together a wealth of experience in the field. Previous performances, across the UK and further afield, include venues such as Cadogan Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields and Birmingham Symphony Hall, and the West Cork Chamber Music Festival.

Since their formation two years ago, The Garde Trio has been extensively involved in the musical scene in Manchester. Highlights this season have included a performance by return invitation in the concert series at Emmanuel Church, Didsbury, and an appearance in the RNCM Chamber Music Festival 2015 Má Vlast (My Country), where the trio were honoured to conclude the celebration of Dvorak’s chamber music.

Finalists of the RNCM Weil and Nossek Chamber Music Prizes, The Garde Trio was honoured by an invitation to play in the prestigious European Chamber Music Academy week at RNCM, working with revered violist Hatto Beyerle (founding member of the Alban Berg Quartet). The trio also benefits from the regular tutorage of eminent musicians such as the Gould Trio, the Sitkovetsky Piano Trio, the Talich Quartet, the Henschel Quartet, Frans Helmerson and the late Peter Cropper.

Last August the trio embarked on a concert tour of Northern Ireland, performing recitals in Coleraine and Bangor!
