Trio Etoile is comprised of Kayleigh Kim (age 12) violin, instructor Ms. Amy Beth Horman; Carina Kong (age 12) piano, instructor Dr. Anna Ouspenskaya; and Jian Mostaghim, (age 13) cello, instructor Mr. Mark Evans. Since its formation in the Spring of 2015, Trio Etoile has enjoyed performing together on the Classical Open Stage Television program, and has been honored with participating in master classes with Julliard Professor Shirley Givens (June 2015), and the Kelemen Quartet (October 2015). In February 2016, Trio Etoile won 1'st place in the American Protégé Piano and Strings Junior Division Competition and had honor of performing in Carnegie Hall on May 30, 2016. The Trio has been selected to perform at the Alden Rising Star Series in the Spring of 2017. Trio Etoile won 1st place at the 2016 Young Musicians Inspiring Change (YMIC) Chamber Music Competition and most recently has been honored with a First Place Award, and the Misbin Award at the prestigious Misbin Family Memorial Chamber Music Competition in April 2016. As a result, Trio Etoile has performed at the Smithsonian National Gallery of Art and had honor of participating in the “Play-in with the Pros” at the Levine School of Music. The Trio hopes to continue performing at community events for local charities assisting in fundraising for Food and Friends in Washington, D.C., and for Doctors without Borders through a youth run organization of young artists called Music without Borders.
