A native of Nova Scotia, Soprano Skylar Cameron is currently on her way to completion of her Bachelor of Music at Mount Allison University, studying voice with Dr. Vicki St. Pierre.

Skylar’s latest achievement was representing Sackville, NB at the Provincial Music Festival 2016. In October 2015 she received first place in Division Three at the National Association of Teacher’s Songfest at University of Moncton. Skylar has also represented Nova Scotia in Senior Voice at the 2015 National Music Festival in Edmonton. Skylar has participated in master classes with renowned Canadian soprano Measha Brueggergosman, contralto Vicki St. Pierre, Baritone John McMaster, and most recently with baritone Mel Braun.

Skylar has been a part of Mt. A’s Opera Workshop for the past two years where she has taken on many roles. In the winter of 2015 she played the character of Dona Elvira in the aria Ah! Fuggi il Traditor and Fiordiligi in the trio Soave sia il vento from Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte. November 2015 Skylar played several roles in scenes, including Elena’s Forse piu d’un belta from Gluck’s Paride ed Elena, Fortuna from the prologue of Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea, and the First Lady in the ladies trio from Mozart’s The Magic Flute. April 2016 Skylar performed as Cendrillon in Pauline Viardot’s Cendrillon (Cinderella).

After completion of her Bachelor of Music, Skylar hopes to continue her studies in opera performance.
