Rich Qian | 3rd Prize | Violin 2017 | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


14 years old Rich, an 8th grader at Mary Institute and St Louis Country Day School in St. Louis MO, he began violin lesson at the age of 5. His teachers include Joo Kim, Joe Kaminsky and Almita Vamos.

As multiple local competitions’ winner, Rich had the opportunities to solo with Alton Symphony, Bellville Philharmonic Society, and University City Symphony since he was 9. Outside of St Louis region, in 2016, Rich won 2nd place at the Midwest Rising Star Competition for high school string player, won 2nd place at the YangZi Piano and Instrument Competition, was named the 1st place winner of his age group at the Global Online Great Composer Masters of Violin Concerto Competition and received Honorable Mention at the Walgreens National Concerto Competition in Chicago.

He is a member of the Webster University Prep Program; three seasons member with the St Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. He performs regularly for the seniors at the Barclay House and is a volunteer violinist in the Urban Youth Orchestra of the Orchestrating Diversity program. He enjoys sharing his silky violin sound with the audiences.
