Trenton Teruo Takaki | 1st Prize | Piano 2017 | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


As the winner of the Premier Young Artist Award from the Jacobs School of Music, Trenton is in his fourth year at Indiana University, where he is pursuing a double major in piano and biology. He has studied in the piano studios of Shigeo Neriki, Evelyn Brancart, and Norman Krieger, while being enrolled in the Hutton Honors College for academics. His most recent performance was at Weill Hall, Carnegie Hall in the Winner’s Recital of the Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition as a winner of the College/Professional Division. While in the studio of Sueanne Metz, Trenton was a semifinalist in the Cooper International Piano Competition and was invited to play in the Reinberger Hall Honors Recital in Cleveland. He received third place in the 2012 Cleveland International Piano Competition-Young Artists Senior Division, and was a prizewinner in the IIYM International Piano Competition, the Dubois Piano Competition, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Youth Auditions, the Chopin Youth Piano Competition, the Augustana Lee Biennial Piano Competition, the Steinway Young Artists Competition, the DePaul Concerto Festival, the Walgreens Concerto Competition, and the Chicago Duo Piano Festival Competition. Trenton was an MTNA National Finalist and a semi-finalist in the New Orleans International Piano Competition. He has performed at Ganz Hall, the Shayne Wilson Center for the Arts, Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, and the Chicago Symphony Center. Trenton was a Carpe Diem Foundation Humanitarian Award Scholarship Semifinalist and a member of the Japanese National Honor Society and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
