Jayden Chen | 2nd Prize | Strings | 3rd Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

Jayden Chen, cello

Score: 86.43

Cello is a gift that Jayden has been sharing by bringing the concert to those who aren't able to make it to the concert hall. He has brought tears of joy to eyes of one recovering at home from a stroke, unable to speak, yet touched when he had played her favorite song. Opening the eyes of young students who live in poverty stricken neighborhoods, Jayden played in a cello and harp duet for a program to introduce music study. Smiles crept onto many faces when he and his chamber group filled the dining rooms of retirement homes and game rooms of assisted living facilities with harmonies that echoed down the hallways.

Jayden Chen is ten years old and studying cello with Jonathan Koh. As a student of California Music Preparatory Academy, he was part of the chamber music group Ps 150. During his leisure time, Jayden enjoys inventing.
