Laura Futamura is a junior at High Technology High School in Lincroft, NJ. She is a fourth-year student at the Juilliard Pre-College under the instruction of the Carol Wincenc. In the program, she has participated in numerous activities, including the Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra, solo recitals, chamber groups, chorus, and composer collaborations.

In the summer of 2019, Futamura will be going on tour throughout Europe as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States. She was also a member of the 2018 National Youth Orchestra 2. As a featured solo artist, she appeared on NPR’s “From the Top” Show 362. She is a winner of the 2018 and 2019 National YoungArts Foundation in the Classical Music Division. She also participated in the Marina Piccinini International Master Classes in the New World Symphony Center of Miami Beach, Florida, where she was awarded a full-tuition scholarship to travel to Weggis, Switzerland to study with Sir James Galway at the Galway Flute Festival. In 2018, Futamura was awarded the “Best Performance of the Newly Commissioned Work” award, as well as 2nd place overall in the National Flute Association High School Soloist competition. She also competes in various concerto competitions and was the 2018 first-place winner of the Sinfonietta Nova Concerto Competition and was a finalist in the 2018 Juilliard Pre-College Open Concerto Competition.

Futamura has also performed on the piano in Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. She performs both flute and piano in numerous local nursing homes.
