Katherine Yang, from Atlanta, Georgia, has been playing piano since the age of four and currently studies with Dr. Elena Cholakova. She has won first place at both the 2016-2017 and 2018-2019 MTNA state competitions, first place at the AMTA Romantic Competition, first place at the NDMTA Rachel Howard Sonata Competition, and has consistently been a winner of the Georgia Music Teacher's Association competitions. In 2017, she was a top prize winner of the C. Merrell Calhoun Prodigy Scholarship Award competition hosted by the Atlanta Steinway Society. The following year, she was a winner of the Ruth Kern Young Artists Concerto Competition and subsequently performed with the Atlanta Community Symphony Orchestra. She also won a scholarship from the Atlanta Music Club and used her winnings for summer studies.
In addition to piano, Katherine enjoys creating artwork and her designs have been represented by various organizations as logos and were distributed to hundreds of people. She also likes reading and watching TED talks.
