Riko Pang, age 9, is a 3rd grader in Barrington School District in Illinois, USA. She has been studying with Betty Haag-Kuhnke at the Betty Haag Academy of Music, USA since she was almost four years old. At 6, she was selected to perform at Carnegie Hall with Magical Strings of Youth, a violin ensemble. With this group, she traveled to Lisbon, Portugal performing a series of concerts for the Lisbon Mayor and U.S diplomats. Riko was a 1st prize winner in the Primary Division in 2017 and 2nd prize winner in the Elementary Division in 2018 at Sejong Cultural Society Music Competition. She was also a 1st prize winner in youth division in 2018 at the Music Festival in Honor of Confucius. She was also a winner at the DePaul Junior Division Concerto Festival for young performers and performed solo with the Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago, USA. In summer of 2018, she was awarded 3rd prize at ENKOR International Music Competition. She also participated in numerous master classes conducted by John MacFarlane, Jasmine Lin, Pasha Sabouri, Augustine Hadelich, and Vadim Gluzman. In addition, she has taken some private lessons from Lisa Shihoten, Caroline Chin and Cyrus Forough. Riko is the recipient of various scholarships from Magical Strings of Youth Scholarship Committee, Mary Galvin Foundation, and Gail Ellis Foundation etc.
Outside of music, Riko is an avid reader, enjoys all sports and competes competitively in USTA tennis tournaments. She loves to watch movies with her siblings in her free time and is fluent in three languages: Japanese, English and Mandarin.
