“Five Cellos” was formed in summer 2019 in Rockville, Maryland, USA, coached by Mr. Ning Wang. The group consists of (from left to right) Crystal Niu (16), Artemis Zhang (13), Jackie Cao (14), Emma Song (14), and Sarah Mei (12), all of whom have had years of individual training with Mr. Wang.

Recently, the group was chosen as a First Place Winner in the junior category of the American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music 2019. They will be playing at the Carnegie Hall in spring 2020. The group also won the Third Prize in the junior category of the Art of Chamber Music division in the 2019 Great Composers Competition Series. Individual members of the group have received many other awards and honors, including Third Place in the American Protégé International Music Talent Competition; Third place in the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition; Third place in the Great Composer Best Bach Performance Competition; and various all-county and all-state orchestra placements. All members have also participated in the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra and/or Potomac Valley Youth Orchestra, some as principal cellists. They also routinely perform in charity concerts, at senior centers and hospitals, and are happy to give back to the community using their talents.
