Sophia began studying piano at age 8 and cello at age 10. She currently studies cello with Eric Sung. In the Summer of 2018, Sophia took the opportunity to study and perform cello in Austria, both as a soloist and in collaboration with young musicians from around the world. She is currently in the senior level of PYO. With an interest in competitive performance, she has won top awards in Bay Area Music Association and San Mateo County Fair Youth Classical Competitions. Sophia has been invited to perform for the Burlingame Music Club in 2019 and at the Burlingame Founders' Day Event in 2015. She also has an interest in performing in community service events, and has played at senior and veterans' centers. From an early age, Sophia has had a very strong passion for classical music and enjoys studying the history of composers.
