Chloe Joo | 3rd Prize | Violin | 7th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Chloe Joo is a freshman at Saint Vincent Ferrer High School in New York. She is studying violin with Julie Kurtzman at the 92Y School of Music with a merit scholarship in the Recanati Kaplan Program. She is the concertmaster of ISO's Symphony Orchestra. She was interviewed by Andrea Grimes on CBS from WCBS-TV in April, 2018. She was selected to perform for the Howard Johnson Tribute gala concert at Merkin Hall in Sep 2019.

Chloe was the winner of ISO’s 2015 Concerto Competition and made her solo debut in the same year with the ISO Orchestra playing the Kabalevsky Violin Concerto No. 1 in Rose Theatre at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

She performed twice at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall after winning first place at the 2015 Forte International Music Competition as well as the 2016 Rondo Vanguard Music Competition.
She performed in Merkin Concert Hall after winning third place at the 2018 International Grande Music Competition. She won first prize at the 2019 International Best Shostakovich Performance Competition.

She was a recipient of the Irving Caesar Music Scholarship in 2014. She also had a violin masterclass with Odin Rathnam in 2014.

In past summers, she has attended Point Counter-Point, a music camp located in Leicester, Vermont, since 2014. In 2015 and 2016, she appeared in an Advanced Chamber Music Concert in Brandon Town Hall, Vermont.

She does community service through her musical talents at Mount Sinai Hospital, and Concerts in Motion for elderly people. Every autumn and spring, she performs at the Lott Residence Home.

In 2019, she won a Gold medal for the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
