Joy Xu, 14 years old, is a 9th grader at Hopkins School in New Haven, CT, and has been a student of Yoshie Akimoto, Steinway Artist, since 2017. Joy began her piano studies at age 4 with Kumiko Imamura. In 2019, at age 13, Joy won the Danbury Symphony Concerto competition and performed the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Symphony conducted by Ariel Rudiakov. She was invited to perform at a master class of Nelita True and at a Music For Youth benefit concert. Joy has also performed at Carnegie-Weill Hall and Stern Auditorium, and the Steinway Hall in New York, as well as at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Colorado.
