Joel Kim | 2nd Prize | Strings | 6th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


 Joel Kim is a sophomore at Saratoga High School in the Bay Area and currently studies with Jonathan Koh of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He began playing the cello at age 9. He won first prize at the 2020 BMC Music Competition and the 2020 DVC/HNU Young Artist String Competition. He has also won top prizes at the 2020 MTAC VOCE Competition and KAMSA Music Competition. Besides performing as a solo musician, Joel is enthusiastic about chamber music and is a part of the California Music Preparatory Academy. His chamber groups have won prizes at the US Open Music Competition as well as the International Grande Music Competition. Joel enjoys giving back to the community through various music clubs and organizations including Tri-M Music Honor Society and HopeBox Charity Youth Orchestra. This past summer, Joel participated in the virtual Music@Menlo Koret Young Performers Program.
