Lucas Chen | 2nd Prize | Strings | 6th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

 


16-year-old cellist Lucas Chen is currently a junior at The Harker School in San Jose, California. He studies with Jonathan Koh and is a former student of Jihee Kim. He has also studied with Hans Jørgen Jensen at the 2019 Meadowmount School of Music. Lucas is co-principal cellist of the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra, and he made his solo debut with PACO after winning its 2018 Concerto Competition. He is a first-prize winner at the United States Open Music Competition and the American Protege International Concerto Competition, and he also holds prizes from the United States International Music Competition. An avid chamber musician, Lucas studies at the Young Chamber Musicians program and has participated in masterclasses with the Miro Quartet and Kronos Quartet. As co-president of Harker’s Tri-M Honor Society, he also aims to spread his love for music to the community through outreach performances and events at hospitals, retirement homes, inclusive playgrounds.
