Hanna Oyasu | 2nd Prize | Winds & Percussion | 7th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Hanna Oyasu, age 16, currently studies flute under James Donahue. She participated in the District 7 Illinois Music Education Association Junior Band for two years, serving as 1st chair in 2019. She also served as 1st chair in the 2019 All-Illinois Junior Band. Hanna won 1st place at the junior division of the 2018 Society of American Musicians competition, 2nd place at the young artist division of the 2020 Wisconsin Flute Festival Competition, and placed several times at the Chicago Flute Club Annual Student Competition. She won the Midwest Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition in 2016 and 2020, Junior Division and Senior Division, respectively. Most recently, Hanna received the Honorable Mention with Distinction Award at the 2021 DePaul Concerto Festival Competition and Honorable Mention at the 2021 National Walgreens’ Concerto Competition senior open division. She will be performing at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in December 2021 as a 1st place winner of the 2020 American Protégé Music Talent Competition. Hanna has been a member of the Midwest Philharmonic Orchestra since 2018 and currently serves as principal flute.  She has participated in masterclasses with Eugenia Moliner, Christina Smith, Jonathan Keeble, and Jennie Oh Brown. Hanna enjoys baking in her free time.
