Chanelle Chu, 16, has been studying piano with Rose Chen for over 11 years. She has been a top medalist in numerous competitions, including the United States Open Music Competition, the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition, the US New Star Piano Competition, the “Encore” Competition for Young Musicians, Best Prokofiev Performance in the Great Composers Competition series, the Bay Area Spring Piano Competition, the Spotlight Youth Music Competition, and more. In 2017, Chanelle was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City. In 2020, she was a participant in the Vivac-e Virtual Piano Festival. The following year, Chanelle received Honorable Mention in the MTAC Piano Concerto and Solo Northern Region Competition. She was also awarded Panel Honors after passing Panel Finals within the Certificate of Merit program, and invited to attend the annual Convention in July, conducted by the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC). In 2020 and 2021, Chanelle performed in the annual Gift of Music Benefit Concerts to fundraise for the Music for Minors Foundation and the Soundpost Youth Foundation. Outside of music, Chanelle is enthusiastic about youth advocacy and astronomy.
