Iris Cai is a rising ninth grader at Harker School in San Jose, California. She has played the piano since age 5, and currently studies with Mr. John McCarthy in the Pre-College Division at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She has received numerous awards as a pianist, and was invited to play in Carnegie Hall as First Prize winner of the American Protégé Music Talent Competition. Iris has also received several top awards in the United States Open Music Competition, the Great Composers Competition, and the United States International Open Music Competition.
Iris loves playing and listening to Baroque and Classical music, and feels a special affinity for the music of Bach. In addition to her piano studies, Iris also does competitive math, and enjoys reading, writing, and composing.
