Jiin Yun | GRAND PRIZE | Strings | 7th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

 


Jiin Yun (15 years old) is a sophomore at the Orange County School of the Arts. She started cello when she was 6 years old, and currently studies with Professor Joonsung Jun. Jiin Yun won numerous awards throughout her cello career. She won first prize at the Bellagrande International Music Competition, International Music Competition Salzburg “Grand Prize Virtuoso”, Golden State International Competition, second place in the American Classical Young Musician Award and in Los Angeles Violoncello Society (LAVS). She has performed the Vivaldi Cello Duet as a soloist with the Pacific Symphony Santiago Strings orchestra at Segerstrom Hall. She will also perform Shostakovich Cello Concerto with the Southern California Philharmonic in March 2022. Furthermore, Jiin Yun had the wonderful opportunity of receiving a masterclass from world-class cellist, Ron Leonard. Aside from her solo career, she is active in chamber music. She has been the honor member of Junior Chamber Music for 7 years, and recently was titled as the Debut Artist. She also uses her talent in music to give love to the community by volunteering in a variety of organizations such as Back to Bach, Smile Train, Love in Music, and Dragon Kim Foundation. Outside of her cello life, Jiin Yun is passionate about environmental issues, as she actively campaigns and carries out research on carbon emissions from data servers. She was a team member in a nationally ranked Science Olympiad team. In her free time, she loves to write short stories and poetries.
