Rudy Mahajan, age 16, currently studies under Maki Kuper. An 11th grader at Davis Senior High School, he is principal flute of his school Symphonic Band and Orchestra. He is also the principal piccolo of the Sacramento Youth Symphony. Rudy was a finalist in the Sacramento Youth Symphony Concerto Competition and placed first in the senior division of the Auburn Symphony Young Artist Competition. He was the second place winner of the Sacramento Flute Club High School Soloist Competition and was selected to perform in the California Junior Bach Festival. Rudy enjoys participating in regional and state-level honor bands, playing principal flute in the North Bay Honor Band and California All-State Symphonic Band. Rudy is also a member of the Davis Flute Choir and an active chamber music performer. In his free time, he enjoys baking, participating in his school Speech and Debate Team, and gardening.
