Yunah Kwon | 2nd Prize | Winds & Percussion | 8th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

 


Yunah is a junior at Centennial High School and currently studies oboe with Katherine Needleman. She is part of Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra and an alumni of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute summer program, where she performed in a masterclass for Nathan Hughes. She has won best performer in woodwinds at the 2021 Metropolitan Music Festival, and honorable mentions at the Howard County High School G/T Orchestra Concerto Competition, Asian American Music Society 2021 International Competition, Ross-Roberts HS Competition for Woodwinds, Brass & Percussion, and U.S. Army Orchestra Young Artist Competition (Winds category).

In school, she is involved in Tri-M and Music Mentor to help spread music around her local community. She is event coordinator for the Do Re Mi Project, a non-profit that connects kids to high school musicians for free virtual music lessons. She also plays clarinet and english horn in marching band and pit orchestra."
