Iris Cai is a freshman at The Harker School in San Jose, California. She has played the piano since age five, and currently studies with Mr. John McCarthy. Most recently, Iris received an honorable mention at the Henry and Carol Zeiter Piano Competition. In the past, she was invited to play at Carnegie Hall as first prize winner of the American Protégé Music Talent Competition, and has also received other top awards in the ENKOR Int’l Music Competition, the United States Open Music Competition, the Great Composers competition series, and the US International Open Music Competition.
Iris loves playing and listening to Baroque and Romantic music, and feels a special affinity for the music of Bach. In addition to her piano studies, Iris also does competitive math and enjoys reading, writing, and composing.
