Jin Qian Quintet | 3rd Prize | Chamber Music | 9th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

Timothy Shi

 Bio: Timothy Shi is a classical violinist and a sophomore at Millburn High School. He began playing violin at four and has since performed as a guest soloist with the New Jersey Symphony, as a soloist at Lincoln Center, as the concertmaster of the New Jersey Youth Symphony’s Sinfonia and Philharmonia, and the concertmaster of the New Jersey Symphony Youth Orchestra’s Academy Orchestra. He received first and second place in the Henry Lewis Concerto Competition in 2022 and 2020, respectively, and received third place at Camerata Artists International Competition. Shi is currently a member of the NJ Symphony Youth Orchestra, All-State, and All-National orchestras. Outside of violin, he loves to program, talk with friends, and swim, having placed 12th and 20th nationally for the 400 IM and the 1000 Freestyle.

 

Vincent Guo

Bio: Vincent Guo is an 8th grader at the Livingston Heritage middle school.  Vincent started learning to play the violin and piano at age 5. In addition to playing in the school chamber orchestra, He is also a member of New Jersey Youth Orchestra. Vincent loves to play Chamber music and have attended summer camp at the Chamber Music center of New York in 2021. This summer Vincent attended the Kinhaven junior music camp in Vermont and the chamber music camp of NJYS. Vincent is currently studying with Mrs. Sasha Neglia. 

 

Kevin Chen

 Bio: Kevin Chen is a Violist of 8 years and a Senior at Westfield High School. He has been selected into the CJMEA and NJMEA Region and All-state Orchestras for multiple years. Kevin was also a member of the NJYS orchestras. Currently, he is studying at the Manhattan School of Music (MSM) Precollege. In addition, Kevin has played piano for 8 years. In his free time, he volunteers for multiple community orchestras. He believes that music can unite people, connect different cultures, and bring joy to people.

 

Kevin Dai 

 Bio: Kevin Dai is currently a junior at Millburn High School. He has been playing cello for eight years, since he was in 3rd grade. He was the principal cello in his sophomore year. In 2016 Kevin joined New Jersey Youth Symphony and was a member for 5 years. There, he had the opportunity to play at Carnegie Hall as part of the orchestra, an extremely memorable experience. His first experience with chamber music was as part of a select group at his high school. Outside of music, Kevin is interested in computer science and enjoys painting.

 

Vivian Zhang

Bio: Vivian Zhang is a pianist of nine years and a freshman at Millburn High School. She has participated and won awards in numerous events, including first place in the VIVO International Music Competition and second place in the American Music Talent Competition. She has ample performance experience in various venues. Vivian has been enthralled by chamber music ever since her first rehearsal at a music festival this summer. In addition, Vivian plays violin with the NJ Symphony Youth Orchestra and was her school orchestra's concertmaster in eighth grade. She is interested in biology and volunteers with Keys 2 Success, an organization bringing music to underprivileged children.
