Trio Musketeer was formed in August 2021 under the coaching of Mr. Viktor Basis. Violinist Nickita Zhang,11 years old, has been studying at Special Music School with Mr. Basis for 6 years. She is a prizewinner in multiple international competitions including the Grumiaux violin competition, the Rudolf Barshai Competition and the Best Wieniawski performance competition. She also plays guitar and writes songs. She appeared on NPR's From the Top show 405 in November 2021. Pianist Mayu Kanai was born in 2009 and is a 7th grader at the Special Music School. She is a student of professor Irina Morozova. She has won several competitions such as the Crescendo Competition, Schumann Competition, and others. Ben Puts is 11 years old and attends 6th grade at Fieldston Middle School. He has studied cello with Nicole Johnson since the age of 4 and has participated in chamber music and orchestra programs in NYC. He also enjoys studying piano and percussion, and playing travel soccer and tennis.
