Joanne Fan, a 11th grader at Wootton High School, MD, has been playing flute for 7 years. Joanne currently plays flute/piccolo for MCYO Philharmonic Orchestra. Joanne won Honorable Mention in 2023 US Army Orchestra Young Artist Competition and was invited to play side by side with the US Army Orchestra in a Concert Featuring Dvorak's New World Symphony. Joanne won 1st prize in the 2022 Charleston International 20th Century Music Competition; won 2nd prize in the 2022 Charleston International Winter Music Competition; won 2nd Place Award in 2022 City of Gaithersburg Young Artist Award; won 1st place in 2021 YMIC Metropolitan Music Festival competition. She was a Finalist in 2021 PVYO Concerto Competition. She won 2nd Place Prize in 2021 Mid-Atlantic Student Honors Competition by Flute Society of Washington. She won 3rd Place Award in 2021 City of Gaithersburg Young Artist Award. She was selected for 2020-21 All-Country Honors Band. She won 2nd Place in 2020 YMIC Metropolitan Music Festival competition. She won First Prize in 2020 GCC International Music Competition - The Masters of Winds Concerto and Second Prize in 2020 GCC International Music Competition - The Rising Talents of Americas. She won First Prize in 2020 GCC International Music Competition - The Music of the 19th Century and won First Prize in 2020 GCC International Music Competition - The Music of the 18th Century. She was the winner in 2020 PVYO Concerto Competition. She won 2nd Place Prize in 2020 Mid-Atlantic Student Honors Competition by Flute Society of Washington. She won 3rd Place Prize in 2019 GLORY International Romantic Music Competition. She won 3rd Place in 2019 YMIC Metropolitan Solo and Chamber Music Festival competition. She won 2nd place in the 2019 Washington National Youth Music Competition. She won alternate finalist in 2019 Mid-Atlantic Student Honors Competition by Flute Society of Washington. She won Finalist in 2019 PVYO Concerto Competition. She won 1st place in 2018 Mid-Atlantic Student Honors Competition by Flute Society of Washington. She won 2nd place with flute solo in Winds/Brass Division and 2nd place in Chamber Music Division in 2018 YMIC Metropolitan Solo and Chamber Music Festival competition. She won Finalist flute solo in 2018 PVYO Concerto Competition. She won 2018 Student Master Class competition at Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention and performed the Master Class with Professor Jennifer Parker-Harley at Mid-Atlantic convention 2018. Won 1st place in Winds/Brass Division in 2017 YMIC Metropolitan Solo and Chamber Music Festival competition. She won 3rd place in 2017 Mid-Atlantic Student Honors Competition by Flute Society of Washington. She was selected as a performer for FSW Fall Master Class with Professor Sarah Frisof in Montgomery College on 10/28/2017.
