Brayden Chuang | 2nd Prize | Piano | 10th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

My name is Brayden Chuang and I am a Junior at Mira Costa High School in Southern California. I started playing the piano when I was 5 years old. I received Branch Honors for my Level 7 Certificate of Merit examination and performed at the Convention Festival that same year at the age of 10. I was also awarded State Honors in my Advanced Level examination at the age of 13. After finishing the Advanced Level examination, I took a break from piano to focus on club soccer and high school basketball. During my freshman and sophomore years, a series of injuries kept me from playing sports competitively. I soon rediscovered my passion for classical music after watching the anime series Your Lie in April and also through enjoyable experiences in my school orchestra where I play the violin. From the past year and a half of focusing on piano, I learned about the disciplines of patience, dedication, and hard work. I recently advanced from Branch to Regional to Complete Works Audition in the Southern California Junior Bach Festival, placed second in the MTAC Scholarship Competition, and placed first in the CAPMT Sonatina competition. This summer, I will be participating in the NYU Steinhardt Summer Piano Intensive program. Aside from piano, I love gardening, playing sports, learning about the human brain and body, and playing trivia with friends.
