Darian Liu is an accomplished musician and high school senior from Lynbrook High School in San Jose, California. His passion for music began at the age of five with the piano, and he is currently a pre-college student at the prestigious San Francisco Conservatory of Music, studying under the tutelage of Dr. William Wellborn. Darian's skill and dedication have earned him numerous accolades, including achieving the Panel level with state honors in the California Certificate of Merit and receiving an invitation to perform at the Convention recitals. In 2022, he won 1st Prize in Romantic and 2nd Prize in both Young Artist and Concerto divisions in the Online International Vivaldi Music Competition, 1st Prize with Best Performance Award in Solo Open Category and 1st Prize in Romantic Category in the Vienna Virtuoso Music Competition, and 2nd Prize in Piano Sonata and Best Liszt Performance in the Great Composers Competition Series. He has also been recognized with awards in the US Open Music Competition and in the Junior Bach Music Festival.

Beyond his solo piano work, Darian is a passionate jazz keyboardist and performs in the Jazz Ensemble at SFCM pre-college with other talented musicians. He has also picked up violin, performing with the Lynbrook Chamber Orchestra at the Midwest Clinic in 2019. In addition to his pursuit of music, Darian finds great joy in volunteering and performing for his school's Music for Community club, as well as teaching piano and rhythm for FCSN (Friends of Children with Special Needs).

Darian's dedication to both music and service will continue into his college career at UC Berkeley where he plans to broaden his musical horizons while still exploring other academic interests.
